Launch and Operations Support

Wyle has many years of experience in providing launch and operations support including systems Launch Operations Supportengineering, operation, maintenance and utilization of specialized aerospace chemical and personal protective equipment in addition to managing laboratory operations.

Wyle supported the Space Shuttle Program as part of the Space Gateway Support (SGS) team from 1998 to 2008. As a major subcontractor on the team, Wyle provided services to the U.S. Air Force and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) through the Joint Base Operations Support Contract (JBOSC) -- the first major contract to consolidate outsourcing between government agencies.

On the contract, Wyle was responsible for laboratories, propellants and life support services as well as for the systems engineering, operation, maintenance and utilization of the largest and most diverse fleet of specialized aerospace chemical and personal protective equipment in the world.

The company also provided a full range of metrology, non-destructive evaluation, chemical sampling and analysis, precision cleaning and component refurbishment. Wyle operates three laboratories and provides both calibration and standards support to Cape Canaveral Spaceport customers.

More than 250 Wyle employees supported NASA as well as the Air Force's 45th Space Wing at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station and Patrick Air Force Base. Wyle directly supported virtually every payload, manned and expendable vehicle launch and the launch complex infrastructure over the past seven years including the Space Shuttle's successful return to flight in 2005.
