Land-Use and Public Policy Support

As transportation infrastructure expands and population/demographics change, management of community noise is becoming increasingly dependent upon effective land-use strategies. Through compatibility analyses of land uses in communities surrounding noise sources (such as airports and railroads), Wyle works with customers to characterize and mitigate noise impacts on local populations.

Wyle land use studies will generally focus on these types of analyses: Wyle works with customers to characterize and mitigate noise impacts on local populations.

  • Evaluation of existing land uses and zoning laws.
  • Predicting changes in land use patterns based on local Master Plans and economic trends.
  • Analysis of future noise impacts with regard to land-use compatibility.
  • Development and evaluation of alternatives.
  • Population change detection analysis.

Wyle has developed significant capabilities in integrating the output of noise models with land use data and noise-sensitive receptor information using a variety of Geographical Information Systems (GIS) platforms.
