The aviation system produces significant economic and social benefits to communities around the world. Yet for airports, in particular, and the aviation system, in general, to continue spurring economic growth both locally and globally, it must deal with the environmental and community planning challenges it now faces in an innovative and sustainable fashion. Wyle is a lead innovator in that process.
Wyle believes that it is necessary to forge a new way for the sustainable planning of airports and that innovation and leadership are key ingredients to achieving that goal.
Therefore, Wyle is:
- Creating new tools for environmental decision support and land-use planning.
- Developing new metrics and new approaches to quantify impacts and system-wide trade-offs for better community planning and decision-making.
- Researching new frameworks and new processes to allow airports to hold the capacity that they have built through investment and assist them in creating sustainable platforms for growth.

Better Decision-Support Tools:
Wyle has developed a new platform, Dicerno, for the noise exposure assessment of operational alternatives. It allows airports to conduct what-if scenarios and evaluate impacts in a fraction of the time that it currently takes using available tools and methods. This allows airports to streamline their noise planning processes and use the cost savings produced by Dicerno to employ effective solutions and further their engagement with the community and other stakeholders.

Advanced & Integrated Planning Platforms
Wyle has also developed advanced tools and methods in the area of land-use planning. This includes assessment of population changes, economic data, development trends, and regional transportation systems. The information developed using these advanced platforms allow airports to better plan ahead for their growth and anticipate future development challenges.
New Metrics & Innovative Processes
Wyle has developed new impact assessment methods and airspace visualization techniques. Wyle also employs various new metrics to supplement federally-mandated noise exposure guidelines in order to:
(1) Enhance understanding of the real-life operational environment at and around airports,
(2) Develop better information for the assessment of system-wide trade-offs,
(3) Design effective abatement solutions,
(4) Better communicate environmental and social impacts to various stakeholders, and
(5) Provide better guidance for local land-use planning and federal environmental compatibility and mitigation programs.
Wyle is also providing integrated approaches to land-use planning and airport sustainable development strategies. We provide a comprehensive assessment of cost/ bene?t relationships to effectively map system tradeoffs and enhance stakeholder understanding about the often competing interactions among the airport system’s social, economic, environmental, and operational considerations.

Expert Analyses in Support of International Investment & Airport Privatization
Wyle provides expert support to international organizations undertaking investment risk assessments and/or master planning for airport privatization. Wyle produces expert assessments of the socioeconomic shifts and environmental implications of airport operational growth and identi?es future challenges to further development.
Wyle provides guidance on development alternatives and feasible planning and implementation strategies for the sustainable growth of the investment (airport).
