Introduction
The X-5000 clearly exceeds the high performance and operational standards of previous-generation products in the telemetry industry. The X-5000 offers complete portability and greater ease-of-use, in its small lightweight form-factor, than what has been previously seen in the telemetry market. Maintaining complete telemetry ground station capability, like its Wyle predecessors, the X-5000 continues to offer instrumentation and telemetry engineers a combination of high performance variable rate PCM bit synchronization and decommutation power that exceeds the requirements of IRIG-106 Chapter 4 (Classes 1 and 2) and Chapter 8 standards. Additionally, X-5000 provides Chapter 10 data processing in its support of Network Extensible Telemetry with TCP/IP 10/100/1000 Base-T, full-duplex, remote control and data access.
High-quality connectors and internal cabling are utilized to maximize signal integrity of all telemetry input/output signals and to simplify external connect/disconnect when in operational use. An industry-standard RJ-45 receptacle supports high-speed ENET interface: comprehensive control, data monitoring, processing, and storage by an external laptop, desktop, or rack-mount work station.
Time signal input – IRIG A, B, and G – is supported over a wide dynamic range. The X-5000 may be configured with, or without, a high-performance bit synchronizer for each PCM stream, and can support data input rates up to 50 Mbps. The internal reference clock of the X-5000 provides data and time stamp resolution of 100 nS for the Chapter 10 packet output of the signal inputs. The ENET Chapter 10 output is provided in accordance with the telemetry industry’s US Range Commanders Council IRIG Chapter 10 specification.
A variety of options are available to support unique PCM stream characteristics. Embedded audio may be extracted and output from one or both streams. Embedded asynchronous channels comprising a “child” (embedded) stream may be extracted from one or both “parent” (external) stream inputs and provided with serial data and clock outputs from the X-5000 rear panel. One or both external PCM inputs may be configured with low-latency DAC output modules. Additionally, customized signal I/O may be easily supported by the X-5000.
The X-5000, only 1U in height, and occupies less area than an 8 ½ x 11” sheet of paper, provides unparalleled simplicity in set-up, performance, and operational processing of PCM data streams.
