Data Processing

Features

  • Incorporates a versatile and powerful processing engine known as the EUP
  • Operates either in an integrated OMEGA for Windows environment with high-speed access to real-time data or as a stand-alone processing engine with custom data I/O interfaces
  • Designed for truly distributed processing. Multiple EUPs can be operational across a network with each operating independently

Telemetry-specific Algorithms Derived Parameter Processing.  The Engineering Units Processor (EUP) is a stand-alone entity running independently of OMEGA for Windows software. Its sole task is to acquire, process, and distribute data. The EUP includes several standard telemetry-specific algorithms that users can assign to parameter processing using OMEGA for Windows’ intuitive menu system. The software also comes with a derived parameter-processing tool for creating unique algorithms and for including them in the function library.  Derived parameter processing supports multilevel processing and incorporates a number of standard processing functions: trigonometric, logarithmic, conditional if/then/else, mathematical, binary, and logic.

The EUP receives its processing attributes as a load file following the compilation of the telemetry database.  After defining the parameter database, users can use OMEGA for Windows’ menu system to go directly to the Access editor or to take advantage of the import/export utilities between Access and ASCII flat files or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.

Virtual Decommutator.  OMEGA for Windows’ EUP includes a real-time software decommutator that can be configured to acquire and process entire data streams or embedded asynchronous data streams and messages. Users can program it to support embedded data components running in conditional burst or in continuous modes of operation.  The virtual decommutator also functions on multiple embedded data streams (embedded-embedded).  It accepts data via bus transfers from a hardware decommutator, data transferred over a network, or data as read from a standard SCSI storage device.

The EUP provides:

  • Cocatenation and discretes; syllable definition and collection to the single bit
  • Data compression; canned routines on raw or processed data
  • Limit checking; event generation
  • Programmable EU conversions for all parameters
