Network Management 

On the U.S. Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC) Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) contract, Wyle Information Systems supports hardware and software operations, security, and maintenance for a network that includes more than 120 servers at 17 CONUS and OCONUS locations, constantly monitoring network status using a wide variety of tools and responding to network problems 24x7x365. Wyle staff maintains greater than 99.6 percent network and e-mail availability and 100 percent compliance with network Service Level Agreements (SLAs), also supporting and administering the AFMC Defense Message System (DMS) Exchange e-mail system. Monitor systems and provide capacity planning and load balancing services Wyle supports Sun Solaris, Red Hat Linux, Windows NT and 2003 servers, Cisco switches and routers, Ethernet hubs, fiber repeaters and network protocol analyzers using tools such as MS Systems Management Server, HP OpenView, EMC SMARTS In-Charge, CiscoWorks 2000, NetIQ and Remedy. The NOSC is a conduit between the AFMC bases and higher echelons of the USAF and the Department of Defense -- supporting 135,000 users within the AFMC community.

More than 60 IT professionals provide a variety of science and IT-related technical support services to 1,000 NOAA/National Weather Service local users from Maryland to Hawaii on the NOAA National Weather Service (NWS) HQ contract. Extensive IT infrastructure support is provided and staff proactively engaged in advancing and enhancing state-of-the-art weather prediction and warning systems. LAN/WAN engineering support services for NWS Headquarters includes configuration management and systems administration of Windows NT and Windows 2000 servers. Support of the LANs and WAN consists of 1000+ network nodes, nearly 20 Compaq Proliant servers running Windows NT/2000 with TCP/IP and NETBIOS, Cisco routers and switches. The Network Management and Administration Team maintains the operations of the LAN and WAN, including network planning, communications engineering, cyber security engineering, and IT infrastructure sustaining engineering.
