Network Operations Center (NOC) Consolidation

Wyle consolidated the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) voice telecommunications network operations, management, monitoring and help desk functions housed in Chantilly, Va. and Washington, D.C. sites into one Wyle-owned and operated facility. This Washington, D.C. facility, staffed entirely by Wyle personnel, houses the FAA Network Operations Center (NOC), Management Control Center (MCC) and Help Desk with a resulting $1 million savings to the FAA. Beyond the delivery of immediate cost savings, the investments made to integrate robust technology and improved process efficiencies demonstrated the commitment by Wyle Information Systems as an FAA partner to deliver continual improvements in service to the FAA Voice Telecommunications System (VTS) contract customers.

The combination of Teltronics and ACE*COMM’s NetPlus® EOSS (Enterprise Operations Support System) technology provided a complete enterprise solution suite for advanced enterprise telemanagement technology for switched voice, data, IP, and other hybrid networks. In addition, establishing formal business arrangements with Nortel, Siemens, Avaya, and others for engineering expertise and equipment helped model, test, implement and maintain customized voice, data, and video solutions for the FAA. The consolidation resulted in synergy between the functional groups by co-locating and centralizing management, operations and help desk functions; increasing the ability to respond to surge requests; saving on facility and labor costs; and improving service by the addition of NetPlus, EOSS and other systems.
