Multilateral activities:
Wyle's Multilateral and Program Support section provides support for international medical operations activities by coordinating various multilateral board and panel meetings, and facilitating the exchange of information among the medical organizations of the five International Partner agencies. Wyle personnel assist with the development of common medical standards, certification criteria, medical care requirements, preventive medicine guidelines, operational countermeasures and the definition of operations concepts for ISS missions. This includes the integration of International Partners' requirements and operational concepts into ISS medical operations.
Wyle personnel coordinate training certification guidelines for ISS credentialed flight surgeons and aid in the endorsement of mission-assigned flight surgeons. Wyle personnel support ongoing multilateral operational forums, held at least weekly, to review the status of ISS crew health and medically relevant aspects of ISS operations. In addition, Wyle's Multilateral and Program Support personnel are involved in developing project plans; identifying and maintaining metrics; coordinating system plans in support of flight medicine; providing administrative support for Shuttle and International Space Station mission activities, and coordinating emergency medical services and special vehicle operations.
Wyle supplies flight surgeons that provide medical coverage to NASA and contractor personnel in Star City, Russia. This medical coverage is provided for the crewmembers during hydrolab extravehicular activity training, water and winter survival training, and medical classroom training. The flight surgeons also support Shuttle and International Space Station missions and mission simulations in Mission Control Center-Houston and Mission Control Center-Moscow, and work with the flight control team to train the integrated crew.
Program Support activities:
Wyle’s Multilateral and Program Support personnel provide Crew Health Care System (CHeCS) integration support to NASA’s Space Life Sciences Directorate and the ISS Program. Wyle personnel assist with the development of operational requirements for manifesting CHeCS hardware on all launch assets. CHeCS is a suite of hardware on ISS that provides the medical and environmental capabilities necessary to ensure the health and safety of long-duration crewmembers. Wyle personnel work directly with hardware providers to document manifest requirements, prioritize the manifest, and justify and defend the prioritization to the ISS Program. In addition, Wyle personnel provide comprehensive reviews of flight readiness requirements, space flight risks related to crew health and other ISS Program-level actions.
